The Patrol Division is the largest and most visible division of the Richland Police Department. The men and women of the Patrol Division are seen daily behind the wheel of marked patrol cars responding to calls for assistance from the public, investigating traffic crashes, performing neighborhood and business patrols and maintaining order and peace within the city.
They are the backbone of the Department and are our "front-line ambassadors" to the city. In large part, the quality of life in Richland can be attributed to the commitment of duty by these officers. The Patrol Division provides 24hr coverage, 365 days per year to insure that the citizens of Richland can enjoy living and working in a safe, secure and peaceful city. These officers are assigned to rotating 12 hr. shifts.
Responsibilities of the Patrol Division include responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, enforcing state laws as well as city ordinances, conducting initial investigations and evidence collecting, investigating traffic crashes, responding to alarms, maintaining a secure atmosphere for public events, preparing cases and giving courtroom testimony, maintaining proper traffic control and flow throughout the city and enforcement of traffic laws .
